Staveley Birkleas is a sixty bedded nursing home in Shipley
on the outskirts of Bradford while also being within commuting
distance of Leeds. We can accommodate adults with a variety
of specialist care needs such as head and brain injuries,
Huntingtons disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy
amongst many others.
Staveley Birkleas Nursing Home, Accommodation...
Originally designed as two care facilities, Staveley Oaks
and Birk Leas were the first Care Homes opened by The Czajka
Care Group in 1983 and 1986 respectively. Following completion
of a sympathetically designed annexe in 2004, the two homes
were joined to provide single room accommodation in a cluster
of no more than 10, each with their own lounge and dining
space.
All rooms are single, en suite and tastefully decorated with
modern furniture, though residents are encouraged to bring
their own personal items to make rooms very individual.
Residents of Staveley Birkleas also benefit from having a
sunken garden with a centre piece pergola to enjoy as part
of their rehabilitation. Located in leafy and peaceful Nab
Wood, Staveley Birkleas is a short walk from Saltaire and
has good access to bus and rail networks for visiting loved
ones or resident’s day trips.
Staveley
Birkleas currently has a computer room with broadband access
but we hope to provide a full wireless, ADSL Broadband service
in the near future.
Quality Care At Staveley Birkleas...
The Philosophy of Care at The Czajka Care Group is to ensure
that residents retain as much autonomy and independence through
providing a range of choices and activities to participate
in as well as ensuring that privacy and dignity are always
respected.
Staveley Birkleas has a dedicated and well equipped physiotherapy
room with two full time physiotherapists on staff as well
as a purpose built kitchen where residents are able to adjust
the height of the work surfaces to any wheelchair level in
order to help with a successful rehabilitation.
Staveley
Birkleas has two activity coordinators who arrange a wide
variety of weekly events from arts and crafts, exercise groups,
barbeques, themed evenings and talent shows. When time allows,
additional one to one activities can be arranged and can range
from anything from reading books together, playing games or
simply having a nice long chat.
Awards
At Staveley Birkleas...
The dedication and commitment of the staff, to providing the
best possible care to residents, has earned Staveley Birkleas
the Care Quality Commission
[CQC] 3 Star Excellence, the highest possible
accolade possible in the caring profession.
In
December 2011 Staveley Birkleas was awarded Pallium status
by Bradford and Airedale NHS Trust. The aim was to increase
the skills and confidence of staff when dealing with end of
life care and to ensure the process was carried out in the
most dignified manner possible. The project also encouraged
and promoted the use of end of life care tools. Staveley Birkleas
is one of only five care homes to have taken part in the project
since its launch and is only the second care home to have
successfully achieved the standards set by the NHS. The home
was assessed over a twelve month period with a designated
mentor supporting the home throughout. A robust and challenging
criteria was set by the NHS with 12 Charter Marks to successfully
achieve in order to receive the prestigious certificate.
